Since 1 June 2020, Mardal Systems LLC has been our new and exclusive sales partner on the Ukrainian market. Lots of products are manufactured in the Ukraine, which are exported to Europe and consequently have to comply with international standards. Due to the increasing export business, the demand for high-quality components is growing. This specifically holds for factory automation, where standard products and customized solutions are required. This is where ESCHA’s strengths lie and we want to profit mutually.
Mardal Systems was established in 2019 and is, next to ESCHA, partner with other well-known brands in the field of industrial connectivity. Thanks to more than twenty years of industry- and sales experience of company founder and Managing Director Valeriy Mardal, the company has an excellent network within the Ukrainian industry.
With plastic locking nuts in Hygienic Design it is easy to achieve cost benefits towards stainless steel in food- and beverage applications.
The food industry sets high demands in terms of hygiene and process security. These demands can be transferred one-to-one to connectors and cables. To withstand aggressive cleaning- and detergent agents, it is common to refer to special plastics or V4A stainless-steel as material. As of now, ESCHA offers connectors with cost-effective plastic locking nuts in Hygienic Design, abandoning the comparably expensive stainless-steel locking nuts.
The new plastic locking nuts developed by ESCHA are extremely robust and can be tightened by hand as well as with a torque wrench. Afterwards they fulfil the protection standards according to IP67, IP68, and IP69. Due to their unique plastics compound they are resistant to Ecolab detergents. Their Hygienic Design prevents the formation of dirt pockets and residues. Therefore, connectors with plastic locking nut can be used in the product contact zone without more ado.
The new plastic locking nuts are available for M12-connectors in three, four-, or five-pole version. There are three cable qualities at your disposal. Additionally, you can choose between male and female as well as straight and angled variants.
ESCHA extends its M12 power product-range with PNO-compliant variants. The new power components facilitate a transmission of up to 63V DC at a rating of up to 16A.
More and more compact installations require similar compact interfaces – not only for data- and signal transmission, but also for the power supply. The industry-proven M12-interface has become the new and compact benchmark for power supply over the recent years. Since 2015, you get M12 power components from ESCHA in different coding-types and for different voltage-ranges.
Five-pole L-coding with functional ground
As of now, you get new variants, meeting the demands of the Profibus User Organization (PNO). PNO-compliant connectivity from ESCHA disposes of a standard-corresponding five-pole L-coding with one contact for functional ground. To distinguish from other M12 power connectors, PNO-compliant components have a grey cable and grey contact-carriers. M12 power connectivity from ESCHA facilitates a safe and reliable power transmission of up to 63V DC at a current rating of up to 16A, while meeting IP67 and IP68 protection classes.
Power follows Bus
Next to single-ended- and double-ended cord sets as well as receptacles for front-wall- and back-wall mounting, ESCHA offers compact power splitters in H-, h-, and T housing-styles. With these splitters you can easily realize a decentralized power wiring following the bus wiring. We call this ‘Power follows Bus’
We have developed extremely robust plastic locking nuts for demanding applications in utility vehicle area or agriculture. You may choose from four different colors.
Plastic locking nuts dispose of a distinctive advantage over stainless steel locking nuts: They are a cost-effective, but no means a cheap alternative. Due to high-quality plastics, they are media- and temperature resistant and are perfectly suitable for applications in the field of mobile automation. In this environment, containments with pressurised water, mud or oil are typical. Additionally, it is predominated by extremely high temperatures in the summer and extremely low temperatures in the winter. Plastic locking nuts and grip bodies from ESCHA can easily be cleaned and withstand temperatures from -30°C to +90°C. Furthermore, UV stabilizers prevent them getting porous or rough.
Four colors enhance clarity
You can get the plastic locking nuts in black, grey, red or blue. This helps you to easily mark, match and differentiate the connectors in the end. Clarity in the application enhances noticeably and mismatching while mounting can be avoided.
Through their unique design, you can tighten the plastic locking nuts by hand as well as with a torque wrench. Afterwards, they meet standard IEC 61076-2-101 and fulfil the high protection degrees according to IP67 and IP68.
We extended our international sales network and are happy to announce the new partnership with Fritz Kupferschmied from Israel.
Since the beginning of the year, Fritz Kupferschmied (FRK) has exclusively been selling ESCHA connectivity on the Israeli market. Together we intend to focus on the sales of customer-specific developments. We are going to benefit from the excellent network, which FRK could establish over the last thirty years within the Israeli industry. FRK resorts to solutions of renowned suppliers from Europe and North America to put together the adequate package for their customers. ESCHA products and services perfectly supplement this offer.
With the new sales partnership, ESCHA extends its international network and is now present in more than thirty countries. With production facilities in Germany, China, and the Czech Republic as well as licensed production in the USA and Mexico, we guarantee high availability and consistent quality of our products worldwide.
Following years of strong growth the ESCHA Group had to report a drop in turnover for the first time in the fiscal year 2019.
The ESCHA Group has generated a consolidated total turnover at around 70 million Euros in the fiscal year 2019. The tense economic situation in the machine-building and automation industry caused the first drop in turnover in six years. In contrast, other markets, such as renewables and transportation, developed positively. The number of employees declined slightly. In 2019, 850 employees worked for our company group worldwide. That is fifty fewer than in 2018.
We were not quite able to achieve our revenue target for 2019 and missed the original target by around three percent. The negative impact of trade tariffs, the general insecurity concerning the Brexit and the structural transformation in the automotive industry have affected the general market situation and have left their marks on our company.
Outlook into the future
At the same time, we are cautiously optimistic about the future. The digitalization and automation of the industry offer ESCHA plenty of opportunities in the future: There is a cross-industry trend towards more participants and higher data volumes. Additionally, there is a rising demand for high-quality manufactured connectivity in the fields of intralogistics, renewables, and transportation.
Body construction and vehicle assembly have different demands towards connectors and cables. The new ESCHA automotive portfolio offers just the right solutions for both areas.
ESCHA offers ready-made single-ended and double-ended cord sets in M8x1 and M12x1 housing style for automobile construction. Our components are ideally suited for the different demands in body construction as well as vehicle assembly. Choose, inter alia, our new PUR-cable with enlarged outer-jacket for excellent welding sparks resistance. Or our UL-approved S370-cable with good drag-chain- and torsion resistance.
Safety applications and accessories
You can get both cable qualities with a yellow cable-jacket, which offers high visibility. Our connectors are available in yellow, as well. Suitable accessories like T-splitters, dustproof caps and mounting solutions complement our range.
At SPS 2019 ESCHA shows its new M12x1-connectors with plastic locking nuts as well as PNO-compliant, five-pole, L-coded M12x1-power-connectivity with grey contact carrier and grey cable.
At ESCHA, this year’s SPS will be marked by two product premieres. In hall 10.0, stand 321our new M12x1-connectors with plastic locking nuts will be on display for the first time. The plastic locking nuts provide a cost-effective alternative to stainless steel locking nuts. Furthermore, we are presenting five-pole variants of our L-coded M12x1-power-connectors. The demand for a reliable power transmission via the compact and proven M12x1-interface is constantly rising. At SPS 2019, we show new L-coded, five-pole versions of our M12x1-power-connectors with grey cable and grey contact carriers, meeting the current PNO-demands. All new single-ended- and double-ended cord sets as well as receptacles and splitters facilitate a power transmission of up to 63V DC at a current rating of up to 16A. With ESCHA M12x1-power-components you can easily realize a decentralized power wiring following your bus wiring.
You will find these novelties and other interesting solutions in hall 10.0 on stand 321 from 26 to 28 November.
ESCHA exclusively offers a new cable-quality, which meets all important rail-standards and simultaneously resists up to 1 million double-strokes. So far, one excluded the other.
Safety standards in the bus- and rail area are very high. All materials used in this application environment have to meet specific approvals. The two international standards DIN EN 45545-2 and DIN EN 50155 are decisive for connectors and cables. These characterize fire performance respectively mechanical stresses, connectors and cables have to meet.
For the first time and exclusively at ESCHA, you can obtain a cable-quality, which meets these important standards and simultaneously resists up to 1 million double-strokes. So far, there has been no other cable on the market combining these features.
High bending loads and absolute reliability
The new cable called S5555 is particularly suited for door applications or entrance systems. In this environment, the cable is exposed to high bending loads. At the same time, it has to be absolutely reliable so that doors open and close as well as steps retract and extend properly.
S5555 is available as connection- or junction cable with M8x1- or M12x1 connectors. Optionally, you can order a threaded grip-body, which facilitates fitting a protective hose. All products fulfil the high requirements of protection class IP67.
EtherCAT-P-connectors from ESCHA facilitate a common data- and power supply via the compact M8x1-interface.
With immediate effect, we offer a comprehensive connector program for EtherCAT-P-applications. The four-pole connection cables and device interfaces with P-coding facilitate a common data- and power supply via the industrially proven and comparably compact M8x1-interface. All new components dispose of a reliable 360°-shielding according to IEC 61076-2-114 standard. The typical EtherCat P black-red cable is UL-approved adapted for trouble-free applications on the North American market.
About EtherCAT P
EtherCAT P is an extension of the EtherCAT-technology facilitating the use of the four-wire standard cable not only for data transmission but also for power supply leading to a cost-effective and compact wiring as well as low system budget. The recently developed P-coding averts accidental connection of standard-EtherCAT-slaves.
Entirely new developed
In order to enable high availability and performance, we have made a point of details throughout the entire development process. For example, the shielding connection, the 360°-shielding concept and the wire connection. The new EtherCAT-P-connectors comprise so much knowledge that it is not only about another coding but an entirely new development.
The comprehensive EtherCAT-P-program
At market launch, we offer you a comprehensive EtherCAT-P-program consisting of connection- and junction cables as well as matching receptacles respectively available in straight or angled housing styles as male or female versions. All components are adapted for a power transmission up to 4A at concurrent Fast-Ethernet-transmission up to 100Mbit/s. The black-red cable is available as AWG22- and AWG24-variants.
For all EtherCAT-standard applications, we have four-pole M8x1-connectors with A-coding, four-pole M12x1-connectors with D-coding as well as RJ45-connectors at your disposal.
The combination of connectors, junction modules, and new device interfaces for M12x1 POWER provide for a permanent power supply in field level.
We have extended our M12x1-product program for power transmission. In addition to the already available connection- and junction cables as well as junction modules, device interfaces are now available. The new receptacles were designed in four various coding types. The combination of connectors, junction modules, and device interfaces provide a permanent, decentral, and structured wiring of the power supply similar to a bus wiring from switch cabinet to terminal devices. At ESCHA we designate this approach as ‘POWER follows Bus’.
The trend towards compact power supply via M12x1
As electronic devices are getting more and more compact, there is a rising demand for similar compact power supply via the standardized and industrially proven M12x1- interface according to IEC 61076-2-111. As a supplement to the already available connection- and junction cables in overmolded or field-wireable versions as well as to the T-, H-, and h-junctions, device interfaces in several variants are now available. Namely with:
- S-coding | 630V, 12A
- T-coding | 63V, 12A
- L-coding | 63V, 16A
- K-coding | 630V, 12A, 4+PE
In addition, these are available as several versions for the front panel-, back panel or PCB assembly as well as wire variants for wire cross-sections of 1.5mm² and 2.5mm².
Our M12x1-POWER-components were completely redesigned and are water- and dustproof in mounted condition according to protection classes IP65, IP67, and IP68. They are designed so as to meet the UL2237 requirements. They facilitate a large extension of power distribution due to a connection cross-section up to 2.5mm². A big advantage – particularly in case of DC-voltage distribution – is the low voltage drop in contrast to small cross sections.
After a bit more than one year of construction time, the first sections of our approx. 5,000 sqm. plant extension were put into operation in June. After final completion of the second building-phase, all production-related departments will be consolidated.
The ESCHA Group has extended its production- and logistics hub at headquarters in Germany for about six million euros. The first stages of construction of the roughly 5,000 square meters extension building were taken into operation in June. After about a construction period of a bit more than a year, a first production unit on the top floor of the two-level production building was occupied. First workplaces in the four-level office wing were taken up as well. As of now, we dispose of more than 22,500 square meters of office- and production area in Germany.
Consolidation of all production-related departments
After moving into our new production- and logistics hub in January 2017, we reached our capacity limits due to the high demand for our products much faster than initially expected. For this reason, the originally much later planned building extension had to be immediately started and realized. Through the building extension, we now dispose of additional production- and office areas in sufficient size. We are going to use this area to rearrange a part of the production sections and to consolidate all production-related departments.
Focus on sustainability
As already in the first building phase, sustainability, environmental protection, and energy efficiency were emphasized during the extension activities. The second building phase will also surpass the high requirements of the current energy conservation regulations including especially efficient ventilation- and heating concept contributing to utilizing the machine waste heat for heating and cooling the building. Planning and realization were again the responsibility of the local CL Architektur office.
New M8x1-connectors with D-coding extend our comprehensive PROFINET-program in addition to M12x1-connectors (D-coded and X-coded) as well as RJ45-connectors and appropriate device-interfaces.
The trend towards more and more compact terminal devices also has impacts on the size of interfaces. As a consequence, and in addition to the M12x1-connectors already available, we extend our comprehensive PROFINET-program by compact variants in housing style M8x1. The M8x1-connectors with D-coding and four-pole interface meet the IEC 61076-2-104 standard and are adapted for a faster and safer data-transmission according to Cat5e due to their reliable 360°-shielding.
Throughout the entire development process of the new PROFINET-connectors, a high-performance data-transmission was in our focus. In order to facilitate a high availability and performance, a point was made of details. For example, the shielding connection, the 360°-shielding concept and the wires connection. There is so much knowledge in the new M8x1-components that it is not only about another coding but an entirely new development.
The comprehensive PROFINET-program
The new M8x1-product program for PROFINET consist of connection- and junction cables which you can immediately obtain in straight or angled housing styles a well as male or female versions. Matching shielded device interfaces in straight or angled receptacles complete the portfolio. Together with the already available M12x1-components in four-pole D-coded and eight-pole X-coded as well as RJ45-connectors, ESCHA offers you a comprehensive connectivity-program for your PROFINET-application.
The new cable quality designated ‘PROFINET Robotic‘ combines for the first time drag-chain- and torsion features in one cable.
A new cable quality makes it immediately possible to use PROFINET in robot applications. While previous PROFINET-cables were only available either with drag-chain features or torsion features, the new cable designated ‘PROFINET Robotic’ optimally combines both features. The flexible Ethernet-cable readily withstands up to 5 million bending cycles and 5 million torsion cycles. Currently, it is exclusively available from ESCHA in manufactured version with M12x1-connectors (four-pole, D-coded) or RJ45-connectors.
Robots and grippers
Collaborating robots are more and more frequently used in automated production. Likewise, intelligent sensors and cameras that require a direct Ethernet connection are mounted on grippers. In these applications, bending-, reverse-, and torsion features of a cable are particularly significant. With PROFINET Robotic, we have a new product line on offer, excellently adapted for applications in robot environment through its dynamic properties. It is based on a two-paired data cable facilitating a Fast-Ethernet-transmission according to Cat5e.
In addition to the new PROFINET Robotic, we have to more cable qualities on offer adapting to flexible requirements in the industrial environment. These cable qualities are optimized for M12x1-connectors with 8X-cosing and provide for either very good torsion applicability (5 million cycles) or very good drag-chain applicability (1 million cylces).
We have extended our international sales-network. Since January 2019, Sensorville Automação and Prime Automation have been new and exclusive sales partners for Brazil or rather South Africa.
